Journey back to the 18th century at the Bidwell House Museum!

The Bidwell House Museum, set in the Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts, is an elegant Georgian saltbox originally built circa 1760 as a parsonage. Later used as a farm and private home, it has been authentically restored, filled with historic furnishings and is surrounded by 194 acres of beautiful grounds and hiking trails. In operation since 1990, the museum tells the story of 18th century life in the Berkshires through the story of Adonijah Bidwell, the first Minister of the former Township #1, and multiple generations of his family. Each season the Museum offers guided tours of the house by appointment, educational lectures, community events and guided walks on the property. The Museum grounds are open year round, free of charge from dawn until dusk and there are six miles of trails. There is a self-guided Native American Interpretive Trail that starts at the house and a self-guided tour of the grounds around the Museum. Trail maps and maps of the Native American Interpretive trail can be found on the front porch of the Museum throughout the year. The house was made accessible in 2019 and visitors who cannot climb stairs have the option of watching the tour of the 2nd floor via tablet.
