Here for our farmers! Berkshire Agricultural Ventures is a community nonprofit helping farmers in the Berkshire-Taconic region grow and thrive. Together we're supporting a stronger, more resilient food system.

Based in Great Barrington, Berkshire Agricultural Ventures is a community nonprofit supporting farmers and food producers in the Berkshire-Taconic region. We provide low-interest loans, micro-grants, and various forms of business assistance -- including financial planning and grant-writing services -- to farmers in MA, NY, and CT. Our vision is to build and strengthen our regional food system while keeping land in agriculture and increasing community access to fresh, local food.

BAV has several strategic programs that meet regional needs. We provide climate risk assessments and planning services; local meat processing support and resources; and, through our Market Match Fund, SNAP matching support to area farmers markets. Since our 2017 founding, we have provided $2.1 million in loans, $1.5 million in grants, and 2,000+ hours annually of business assistance to 179 farmers and food entrepreneurs. Our SNAP matching program has helped to support $602,376 in sales to local farmers. In all these ways, we are working together to build a stronger, more resilient food system!
